A lot of Bridgeport's housing is older, from Black Rock Victorians to the two- and three-family houses found across the city. Walls in older houses are rarely square and floors are rarely level, which is why we template digitally once the cabinets are set instead of cutting from drawings. The template records the room as it actually is, and the stone is cut to fit it.
For a kitchen that gets cooked in every day, quartzite and granite are the practical natural stones: neither etches. For a rental unit, engineered quartz is the low-maintenance choice indoors. In a period kitchen, soapstone looks right and wears into a patina rather than damage.
