CMG — Cornerstone Marble & Granite — fabricates marble, quartzite, granite, quartz, porcelain and soapstone in our Bridgeport shop, about thirty-five minutes from New Canaan via the Merritt. Homeowners and designers are welcome at the slab yard to tag material in person before a single cut is made.
New Canaan builds — modern glass and classic shingle alike — ask for stone that holds its own: bookmatched marble, quartzite with movement, honed finishes, mitred waterfall edges and full-height slab backsplashes. We cut everything in-house, dry-fit waterfall mitres before glue-up, and carry veining around corners so the finished piece reads as one stone.
For renovations in Silvermine, Talmadge Hill and around the village, we coordinate templating around the cabinet install, and most countertop installs are done in a single day.
Choose your slabs at the yard — sequential slabs if the job needs veining to flow across island and perimeter. We digitally template once cabinets are set, fabricate in-house, and install. Template to install typically runs one to two weeks.
Trade clients: we work from architects' and kitchen designers' drawings, flag seam placement before cutting, and send layout photos for approval on bookmatched work.
Modern houses ask for clean lines: crisp edges, mitred waterfalls, and long runs with as few seams as possible. A mitred edge makes a standard slab read as a thick solid block, and a waterfall carries the veining down to the floor when both pieces come from the same slab. Large-format porcelain comes in slabs big enough to top many islands with no seam at all.
Classic shingle and colonial kitchens go the other way: honed marble, soapstone in a period kitchen, or a softer edge on a quiet stone. Either way, everything is cut in our Bridgeport shop and installed by our own crew.

Can you build a waterfall island with matched veining? Yes. Both pieces are cut in sequence from one slab, mitred, and dry-fitted in our shop before glue-up, so the veining turns the corner.
