01 / What you'll see

Full slabs, not sample chips

A two-inch sample shows color. It can't show movement, scale or where the main vein will land on your island. At the yard you see the whole slab, standing in daylight, next to the slabs around it.

We fabricate marble, quartzite, granite, quartz, soapstone, porcelain and onyx. What's in the racks changes from week to week, so if you have a particular stone in mind, call ahead and ask what's here.

02 / Your slab

Tag it, then approve the layout

When you choose a slab, we tag it in your name so no one else can take it. After templating, we plan every cut against a photograph of that slab, and nothing is cut until you approve where the veining lands, including the seams and any waterfall or full-height backsplash.

Once cabinets are set, template to install is typically one to two weeks. From slab selection to installation is usually four to six weeks. Our process page walks through each step.

03 / Before you come

What to bring to the yard

A few things make one visit enough to choose:

  • Your cabinet plan or rough dimensions of each run and the island.
  • A cabinet door, a paint chip and a flooring sample, so you can hold them against the slab.
  • Photos of the room, including the windows and the light at different times of day.
  • Your sink and faucet models, if you've chosen them.
  • Your designer or builder, if you have one. Choosing together saves a second trip.

Planning a vanity, bar top or hearth? Ask to see the remnant racks too. A piece left from a larger job is often the right size and costs less than opening a full slab.

Questions

Slab yard questions

The ones we hear most at the yard. Anything else, call us at 203-717-1978.

Do I need an appointment to visit?

Yes. The yard is a working shop, so visits are by appointment. That way someone can walk the racks with you and pull the slabs worth seeing.

Can I reserve a slab I like?

Yes. Once you choose it, we tag the slab in your name so no one else can take it.

Can I choose stone for more than one room at once?

It's the best way to do it. Choosing the kitchen, baths and fireplace together lets us coordinate undertone and veining and plan offcuts across rooms. See matching stone across kitchen, bath and fireplace.

How long from choosing a slab to installation?

Usually four to six weeks. Once cabinets are set, template to install is typically one to two weeks.

Do you have remnants for small jobs?

Usually, yes. Remnants suit vanities, bar tops, hearths and thresholds. Ask to see them when you visit, or see our remnants page.
