CMG — Cornerstone Marble & Granite — fabricates marble, quartzite, granite, quartz, porcelain and soapstone in our Bridgeport shop, about twenty-five minutes up I-95 from Rowayton. Homeowners and designers are welcome at the slab yard to tag material in person before a single cut is made.
Rowayton's coastal homes favor stone that lives well by the water: durable quartzite, honed granite, porcelain for outdoor kitchens, and the marble moments inside — vanities, fireplace surrounds, a bookmatched island. We cut everything in-house, dry-fit mitres before glue-up, and carry veining around corners so the finished piece reads as one stone.
For renovations on Bell Island, along the Five Mile River and across coastal Norwalk, we coordinate templating around the cabinet install, and most countertop installs are done in a single day.
Choose your slabs at the yard — sequential slabs if the job needs veining to flow across island and perimeter. We digitally template once cabinets are set, fabricate in-house, and install. Template to install typically runs one to two weeks.
Trade clients: we work from architects' and kitchen designers' drawings, flag seam placement before cutting, and send layout photos for approval on bookmatched work.
Many of Rowayton's older houses have compact kitchens and baths, where one slab can cover the whole job and a remnant can cover a vanity. Older walls are rarely square, so we template digitally once cabinets are set and cut the stone to the room as it actually is, not as the drawings say it is.
Inside, quartzite and honed granite take daily use without etching. On a deck or a porch by the water, porcelain and granite are the materials to use; quartz yellows in the sun and marble loses its finish outdoors.

Is a remnant big enough for my vanity? Often, yes. Remnants are priced by the piece and suit vanities, bar tops and hearths.
When can I visit the yard? By appointment, Monday to Friday 8 AM to 5 PM and Saturday 9 AM to 1 PM. Template to install is typically one to two weeks.
