CMG Stone fabricates marble, quartzite, granite, quartz, porcelain and soapstone in our Bridgeport shop, about half an hour up I-95 from Stamford. Our Greenwich office at 180 Sound Beach Ave, a short drive from the Stamford line, is open by appointment only. You choose your slabs in person at the yard before anything is cut.

What Stamford projects call for

Stamford homes range from downtown condos to Shippan waterfront houses and colonials in North Stamford, and the stone work ranges with them: quartzite and marble islands, full-height slab backsplashes, quartz for rentals and second kitchens, and porcelain for outdoor kitchens that sit out a Connecticut winter. Everything is cut in our own shop, and waterfall corners are dry-fit before glue-up.

For condo kitchens downtown and at Harbor Point, tell us the building's rules for freight elevators and delivery times and we plan templating and install around them. In Glenbrook, Springdale, Cove and Westover, we schedule templating around the cabinet install, and most countertop installs are done in a single day.

How it works

Choose your slabs at the yard, including sequential slabs if the veining needs to run from island to perimeter. We digitally template once cabinets are set, fabricate in our shop and install with our own crew. Template to install typically runs one to two weeks, and slab selection to install is usually four to six weeks.

Builders and designers: send your drawings and we will mark seam locations before cutting, then share layout photos for your approval on bookmatched or heavily veined stone.

Quartzite, quartz or marble

A kitchen that gets daily use needs the right stone, so we talk through the trade-offs before you choose. Quartzite gives you natural veining and stands up to heat and scratches far better than marble. Quartz is non-porous and never needs sealing, which suits rentals and busy family kitchens. Marble etches with lemon, wine and vinegar, so we usually suggest a honed finish if you want it in a working kitchen.

Compare all seven materials side by side, or read our guide to quartz vs. quartzite before your visit.
