Bookmatching requires sequential slabs cut from the same block and opened like a book, so the veining mirrors across the join. Sourcing the pair was the constraint on this job, not the fabrication.
The centre line was set to the firebox rather than the wall, because the mirror only works if it lines up with the fire.
