Soapstone farmhouse kitchen
Charcoal soapstone counters and an integral soapstone sink in a period farmhouse kitchen, oiled dark and left to patina.
Stone that keeps the score.
Soapstone is soft enough to scratch with a key and dense enough to shrug off acid, heat and stains completely. The client understood the trade and wanted it: a surface that records the life of the kitchen instead of resisting it.
The integral soapstone sink was fabricated from the same slabs as the counters, seamed at the corners and darkened with mineral oil to match.
