Soft gray-white Italian marble with fine, feathery veining. More consistent from slab to slab than Calacatta, and easier to run across long counters.

Carrara is the workhorse Italian marble. It has a soft gray-white ground with fine, feathery gray veining that reads as texture from across a room rather than as pattern. It is quarried in far greater volume than Calacatta, which makes it more affordable and more consistent from slab to slab.
That consistency is a practical advantage. A Calacatta kitchen often has to be planned around one slab, while a Carrara kitchen can run long perimeter counters and match across seams more easily. It is the marble to choose when you want the stone to sit quietly behind the cabinetry and hardware. Our marble page compares Carrara with Calacatta and Statuario.
Carrara has the same chemistry as Calacatta, so the same rules apply: acids etch it, and sealing prevents staining but not etching. Its busy gray veining hides etch marks better than a whiter, cleaner stone does.
Honed Carrara in a family kitchen ages well. Polished Carrara in the same kitchen will show rings and dull spots within a year. See honed vs. polished.
Every top is templated, laid out and cut in our Bridgeport shop and installed by our own crew. We photograph your slab, place the template over the photo, and you approve where the veins and seams fall before anything is cut. Installation is usually one to two weeks after templating. See how a project runs and our edge profiles.
Natural stone changes from slab to slab, even within one name. Come to our Bridgeport yard, choose the actual slabs for your job, and approve the layout before we cut.
