Warm, creamy Brazilian quartzite with soft veining. It reads like marble from across the room, wears far better in a kitchen, and does not etch.

Taj Mahal is a Brazilian quartzite with a warm, creamy ground and soft veining in beige and gold. From across the room it reads like a warm marble, but it is much harder, and acid does not etch it.
It is the stone we show most often to clients who love marble and then hear what it takes to live with. Its warmth also suits wood cabinetry and brass hardware better than the cooler Italian whites.
See it in our Taj Mahal waterfall island in Fairfield and our coffee pantry in Stamford.
Taj Mahal does not etch, which removes the main worry of a white-stone kitchen. It is porous, though, so it needs sealing at installation and about once a year after that, depending on use.
If water darkens the stone instead of beading, it is time to reseal. It resists scratches well, but cutting boards are still a good idea.
Every top is templated, laid out and cut in our Bridgeport shop and installed by our own crew. We photograph your slab, place the template over the photo, and you approve where the veins and seams fall before anything is cut. Installation is usually one to two weeks after templating. See how a project runs and our edge profiles.
Natural stone changes from slab to slab, even within one name. Come to our Bridgeport yard, choose the actual slabs for your job, and approve the layout before we cut.
