Bright white Italian marble with bold charcoal veining. Scarcer than Carrara and the most graphic of the white marbles, at its best as a focal point.

Statuario sits between Carrara and Calacatta and is scarcer than either. The ground is a brighter, cleaner white than Carrara, and the veining is bold and graphic, usually charcoal gray with the occasional gold vein, running in defined bands instead of soft feathering.
Because the ground is so clean, every etch mark and every poorly planned seam shows. Statuario is worth it when the countertop or fireplace is meant to be the focal point of the room and the client knows what living with marble involves.
See it in our bookmatched Statuario fireplace in Westport, laid out so the mirrored veining centers on the firebox.
Statuario etches readily, and its white ground makes etch marks easy to see. We recommend a honed finish for kitchens. On a fireplace or a bath vanity, polished is fine because acid rarely reaches it.
Seal at installation and about once a year, cut on boards, and wipe acidic spills right away.
Every top is templated, laid out and cut in our Bridgeport shop and installed by our own crew. We photograph your slab, place the template over the photo, and you approve where the veins and seams fall before anything is cut. Installation is usually one to two weeks after templating. Natural stone changes from slab to slab, even within one name. Come to our Bridgeport yard, choose the actual slabs for your job, and approve the layout before we cut.
